Delaware Bay and River Cooperative Training
DBRC instructional staff come from a wide variety of backgrounds in the fire service, industry, governmental regulation. . If your specific training requirement is not listed below, contact us! We have an extensive network of trainers and facilities to meet your needs.
Available Training Classes
DBRC offers the following training to our member companies. Training is tailored to the individual company with an emphasis on personal and environmental safety
Small Boat Training and Spill Equipment Deployment
1, 2 or 3-day classes are available at the member facility or at our Lewes Delaware location. These classes meet requirements for annual equipment deployment training and provide responders with sufficient practice time to keep skills sharp. These classes utilize the members’ boats, oil spill boom and recovery equipment.
Boater Safety Certificate
8 hr. training which meets the requirements for small boat operators and is applicable in all local states.
Training includes required course materials and individual certification through the State of New Jersey.
Technician Level Training
Technician Level Classes are for new responders who are expected to make contact with hazardous materials during offensive mitigation measure implementation. These classes meet the initial training requirements of 29CFR1910.120. The primary differences in the classes involve the work environment,
control and mitigation techniques and site-specific hazardous substances.

- 24 hr. Haz Mat Technician
- 24 hr. Inland Spill Technician
Hazwoper Refresher
Refresher training for Awareness through Technician Level personnel at your facility, our Linwood facility or a variety of local fire training academies. A variety of hands on haz mat skill training simulations are available.
Specialized Skill Training
Training classes such as Community air monitoring, fire pump operation, special equipment operation,
etc are available and customized for your facility needs
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Staff Training
Training for spill response team personnel to implement facility spill plan and incident management system. Practices for IAP Incident Action Software are available and included in EOC Staff training.
Oil Spill Response Exercises
Exercise design and facilitation are available for required tabletop exercises, Average Most Probable Discharges and Worst Case Discharge Exercises. Exercises include internal EOC only, Linwood facility EOC activation and on site equipment deployment exercises.
Fire Training
General Employee Fire Extinguisher Training and various fire brigade skills training and evaluation sessions are available on your site or in partnership with local fire academies
